We are excited to give attendees the opportunity to participate in a presentation discussion with clients in the healthcare market. This is your chance to learn what keeps them up at night, the issues affecting their market, how they commission professional services and anything else you need to ask to understand their perspectives, priorities and experiences.

Steve Donnelly

Director Real Estate Facilities

University Health

As Director of Real Estate Facilities, Steven Donnelly provides leadership in all facets of real estate property management and lease administration for all administrative facilities and ambulatory clinics. 

In this role he supports and assists in implementing corporate real estate and clinical facilities development strategies throughout Bexar County as University Health continues its mission to serve the community.

Steven graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor of Environmental Design. He started his career in the design and construction department working on capital projects for the World Trade Center in Dallas. From there, he spent 9 years working with large construction contractors building healthcare projects. Eventually, Steven joined a large real estate company where he developed healthcare real estate and acted as Owner’s Representative for healthcare projects ranging from medical office and outpatient facilities to large acute care hospitals. He has dedicated his career to healthcare development working on over 2 million SF valued at of $1 billion dollars. Steven is currently a volunteer on the Architectural Review Committee for the Alamo Ranch Communities. He started the Clays for Camps at Children’s Health that has raised over $1 million since it started in 2013. Steven regularly speaks at healthcare real estate conferences and has been published several times. 


Whitney K. Fuessel, AIA, ACHA, RID, LEED AP, LSSYB

Principal, Health Practice Leader

HKS

Whitney is a Principal and Health Practice leader in the HKS Houston office with over 25 years of experience in health, specifically focusing on the experience of humans in the built environment. Her fresh ideas draw from her team of designers and planners working on academic health projects creating a collaborative balanced approach. She is a leading voice for the healthcare in architecture.

Career highlights include:

  • Chaired the American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Health in Houston along with serving on the committee as student liaison and sponsorship chair for more than 10 years.
  • 2017 received the AIA Presidential Citation for the work done while working with the AIA.
  • Founding Board Member of Women in Healthcare, served as sponsorship chair and currently on the National Advisory Council
  • Selected as one of the 2015 Dallas Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Healthcare”.
  • Participates in American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) portfolio review committee
  • Serves as juror and speaker on numerous occasions at Texas A&M, Rice University, Stephen F. Austin and Florida State University.
  • But the most rewarding work she does is through Citizen HKS, with recent in-kind project work ranging from a Tactical Urbanism site in 5th ward Houston, Children’s Advocacy Center in her hometown of San Angelo, Texas and the work she will talk about today in Uganda – a Neonatal Unit.  

She also makes time to serve as a volunteer board member for The Vine Uganda and is helping develop a master planned school campus for them in Kampala. She has been able to travel there twice to see the site, help raise funds for projects and organization is about to break ground on their 3rd building, a classroom building.


j. Randoph "Randy" Harig

CEO

Texas Research & Technology Foundation & VelocityTX

 J. Randoph “Randy” Harig enjoyed 40 years’ experience in the medical industry, ranging from roles as an independent distributor for a major orthopedic medical company to executive level positions, including owning the Nix Medical Center, a 160-bed center and office complex. Randy often shares that he has had every role in the medical ecosystem except being a physician. 

Randy served his country in the US Air Force, Air National Guard and Army Reserve for a total of 12 years. Further, he served as the San Antonio Chamber representative to the Commander of Army South. This has led Randy to deeply appreciate the intersection of military medicine, San Antonio, and the bioscience community. 

Randy has been affiliated with the Texas Research and Technology Foundation (TRTF) back in 1985 as a board member, subsequently being named chairman. He was selected to lead the organization in 2017 as the chief executive officer. Since then, he has redirected the focus of the foundation by creating an Innovation District on the Eastside that includes TRTF subsidiaries such as VelocityTX, Alamo Angels, and Community House. 

Randy has long been engaged in community, serving as a member and then chairman of Centro 21, a City Council appointment, whose focus was downtown growth. He has served as chairman of University Health Foundation, as a Fiesta Commissioner, a member of the Order of the Alamo, and member and past director with the Consejo organization. 

On a personal note, Randy is a founding member of The Clocktower Bourbon and Cigar Club, an organization founded to further communication and goodwill between the senior military leadership and community leaders. 

Randy is the proud father of four children, five grandsons and a granddaughter. He travels the world with his wife, Kay, who is also well known in the community for her own entrepreneurial leadership as the owner of a company focused on office design. :

Jeff Brooks, FACHE

Jeff Brooks leads the Healthcare Center of Excellence (COE) for Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Company, a Texas-based ENR top 400 general contractor. Brooks is a 26-year veteran of the healthcare industry with extensive experience in healthcare facility planning, design, construction, and operations.  Prior to joining S&P, Brooks served in senior leadership roles with Erdman, a national healthcare design-builder, and was the CEO and owner of a firm that developed and operated independent diagnostic imaging centers throughout the country. Brooks earned an MBA and a BS in Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.  He is a LEED Green Associate, certified in healthcare Evidence-Based Design, and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
