Event Description:
Start your morning with trees, tacos, and tranquility! Tacos & Trails is a one-of-a-kind walking tour through the beautiful new Arboretum San Antonio, offered in the cool morning hours for the perfect blend of comfort and discovery.
Check in at 8:00 AM to grab a breakfast taco and coffee, then join us for a brief overview of the masterplan, followed by a scenic walking tour from 8:30–9:30 AM. Along the way, you'll explore scenic trails, curated native plantings, and sustainable landscape features—all while hearing behind-the-scenes stories about the Arboretum’s creation and purpose.
About the Arboretum:
Arboretum San Antonio is the city's and South Texas' first arboretum—a museum of trees, which will span over 200 acres. It's located on the Southeast Side at the former Republic Golf Course, less than two miles from Brooks and a quick 10-12 minutes from downtown San Antonio. The site includes Salado Creek, over 300 heritage oak trees, and sits at the crossroads of four local eco-regions, making it well-suited to showcase the trees and ecologies of all four regions. The Arboretum will feature pedestrian and bicycle trails, a nursery to propagate native and climate-resilient trees, nature-based programming, event spaces, and public art displays.
