John Tiemann is the Strategic Initiatives Manager at VIA Metropolitan Transit, where his expertise in public involvement, transportation planning, strategic communications, and project management drives the agency's key initiatives, including VIA Rapid and Keep SA Moving projects. With a proven track record in enhancing public outreach and engagement, John leads cross-functional teams to develop innovative strategies for complex transportation projects.
In parallel, he enriches his professional insights through his role as a Lecturer in the Department of Public Administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio, teaching courses on Urban and Regional Economic Mobility, Urban Management and Policy, and Mobility Planning and Policy.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from Texas Lutheran University, a Master’s in Public Administration from UTSA, and professional certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and the American Planning Association American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). As a member of the American Planning Association and the Project Management Institute, John remains actively engaged with best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to learn, share knowledge, and mentor others to nurture the next generation of professionals in public administration and planning.
