For nearly 20 years, Port San Antonio has been redeveloping the 1,900-acre site of the former Kelly AFB—transforming former military facilities and adding millions of square feet of modern spaces. The real estate-based work of the Port is driven by an economic development mission so that the platform attracts and grows key industries and generates good jobs that benefit the entire community.

Already home to over 80 employers and 13,000 workers, the Port’s vision to continue growing one of the largest economic engines in our region centers on strategically applying its real estate assets to expand collaborations and innovations among advanced technology industries on the campus and beyond—providing San Antonio an increasing competitive edge in global industries, including aerospace, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, medicine, and financial services.

At the heart of the Port’s plans is Project Tech: a growing state-of-the-art development where leading technological innovators can develop new breakthroughs advancing technologies that power the region and have applications around the world. The first phase of Project Tech has been completed: a 90,000-square-foot secure office facility to house the growing number of cybersecurity professionals at the Port.

This briefing by Port leadership will offer a glimpse into the evolution of the region’s largest industrial platform as it leverages its unique assets and works strategically in partnership with industry, educators, public officials and development partners, to further grow Project Tech.

As San Antonio’s cybersecurity business increases, Port San Antonio reinforces and raises San Antonio’s standing as a leading community for technological innovators.
