The Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects San Antonio Chapter introduces
"Lean Project Delivery Case Study: Bexar County Adult Detention Facility"
to be presented by
Mr. Oscar Cervantes, AIA,
County Architect
and
Mr. Dan Curry, AIA
Assistant to the County Manager

In this session, Lean practitioners from leading specialty and trade contractors will demonstrate how they have collaboratively utilized Lean construction principles on their own to deliver and capture more value and differentiate themselves from the competition.
Lean construction techniques and culture have begun to change the construction industry. This collaborative approach delivers greater value by exposing and eliminating waste, promoting continuous improvement and improvement measurements, utilizing “management by sight” techniques that enable engagement by all on the project, and deploying the Last Planner tools that yield optimum efficiencies. However, too often Lean construction implementation is controlled and dominated by the general contractor or construction manager, and the subcontractors, trade contractors and specialty contractors are left to struggle to consistently implement Lean from project to project and in their own shop.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the concepts of Lean Construction
2. Understand the importance of Pre-Planning in Lean Construction
3. Learn the application of Lean Construction in a project delivery
4. Learn the efficiency in speed and cost of Lean Construction
5. Learn a new way of thinking about how a construction project is managed and executed.
6. Understand how lean techniques and approaches reduce costs, reduce schedules, improve quality, and remove variability and risk in your projects.
