The San Antonio Chapter takes a break from” business as usual” to enjoy an educational hands on program for the whole family.

Matthew Driffill, Recreation Superintendent of SARA will give a firsthand account of the San Antonio River Improvements project.

 Then we will have the opportunity to experience the River Improvements firsthand, by Kayak. Catered BBQ dinner and refreshments will be provided.

Learning Objectives:

1.    Learn about the United States’ largest ecological restoration of a riparian environment.
2.    Understand the engineering and project management challenges of the River Improvements Project.
3.    Understand the role of the US Army Corps of Engineers in the design, management, and funding of an inland waterway project.
4.    Learn about the community consensus building and constituency team building to accomplish a project of this size.
5.    Learn the benefits the project offers to the community in the form of: Flood Control, Ecological Sound Environment and Recreation.
