Since its introduction, Lean Construction is gaining popularity as a new management approach to improving productivity in the industry. There are different interpretations of its concepts and principals to be explored. 

Join us for an insightful look at several current projects that have utilized Lean. Both design and construction methods will be discussed, as well as challenges and benefits of the Lean process as a whole – including technological advances which promise greater efficiencies in the construction of capital improvement projects.

Jodi will moderate the Lean discussion and push the boundaries of this intriguing and important topic in the AEC/GC industry. As a technology leader in capital improvement projects, Jodi will also explore how technology plays an important role in Lean design and construction and ask the hard questions of ROI and project execution.

As a Principal at Page Architects, Brian approaches each new project with the expectation to collaborate, connect and transform both people and places. Brian’s technical experience and project management has contributed to the several of Page’s award winning projects. Brian will bring his experience and lessons learned about the Lean process and discuss the challenges and rewards of his most recent Lean project, the VA Austin Outpatient Clinic; the largest free-standing VA clinic in the Country. Hear how addressing the critical business process of Lean designs on the front-end, assists the successful implementation of Lean during the construction.



Matthew Nail, Project Executive

Turner Construction, Austin Texas

Matt is a Project Executive for Turner Construction has been instrumental in promoting and educating the application of Lean construction practices and methods, including utilizing BIM-based layouts with a robotic total station and iPads, paperless coordination and effective shop drawing efforts. Explore and learn how the utilization of the Lean process helps the team work safer, provides a higher quality product, and completes aggressive building engagements ahead of schedule. Matt will discuss several capital improvement projects that Turner has led the Lean revolution into new territory and provided leadership to advance Lean culture.
