Program: 

Understanding our past so we manage the present and prepare for the future.


Learning Objectives:

1.      Participants will be able to describe how Houston’s commercial evolution has effected it’s architectural evolution.
 
2.  Participants will be able to understand how one of Houston’s most prominent natural features has impacted and made possible Houston’s growth.
 
3. Participants will be able to identify new areas of potential growth for Houston.
 
4. Participants will be able to understand how planning or lack of it can affect a city’s growth.


Guest Speaker:  Stephen Fox, Rice University School of Architecture

Stephen Fox is an architectural historian whose work is focused on the architecture of Houston and Texas.  In his scholarship he examines the ways that architecture engages such social constructs as class identity, cultural distinction, and regional differentiation.  We are very honored to have Stephen introduce us to the architectural history of Houston while we introduce I-LinCP to the Houston community.
