 LinCP Forum in Dallas Addresses Questions about the Future of LEED

Austin, TX,  Tough questions about whether or not Owners should seek LEED certification, the gap between green design and operations, and the future of LEED and green codes and certifications both in the US and outside the US, will be addressed at the North Texas Regional Leadership in Capital Projects (LinCP) Forum, October 25-26, 2011, in Dallas, Texas.

A cadre of national and international speakers will provide presentations and join panels to address key questions being posed by design and construction industry constituents and facility Owners. Discussions will address three main topics:

1.       “An Owner’s Perspective: Certification vs. Not”

2.       “Closing the Gap between Green Design and Operations”
3.       “The Future of “Green”- Codes, Certifications and an International Perspective”

The major sponsor of this conference is Johnson Controls, which is underwriting the Keynote Presentation and Reception that begins at 4:00 p.m. on October 25, in Reunion Tower, with catering by the Wolfgang Puck Kitchen.

The Keynote presentation on October 25 is by Lance Hosey, AIA. Nationally recognized architect, designer, writer, speaker, and advocate Lance Hosey currently is President & CEO of GreenBlue, a nonprofit whose mission is to make products more sustainable. He has been featured in Metropolis magazine’s "Next Generation" program, Architectural Record’s "emerging architect" series, and various other publications, including Vanity Fair, Forbes, The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Los Angeles Times. Until 2009, Lance held the position of Director with William McDonough + Partners, the internationally acclaimed pioneer of sustainable design, with which he had been associated for most of the previous decade. In 2009, Lance was voted an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Green Professionals.

The full day conference on October 26 will be in Union Station. It includes an opening presentation by Noel Morrin, VP Global Sustainability, Skanska, who will address certifications and codes outside the U.S.  The day also includes a lunch presentation about the Dallas Convention Center's energy performance project by Ken Sidebottom, Johnson Controls, and Bonnie Zitek, Facilities Manager, Dallas Convention Center (to be confirmed). The conference concludes with a closing presentation by Dan Haas, Skanska, about The Living Building Challenge.
